GME 60402 This Test Method shall be used to determine the scratch resistance of organic coatings. It is applicable to single or multiple coat systems applied onto metallic or polymeric substrates.

Definition.

The scratch resistance of organic coatings as determined by this Test Method shall be defined as the resistance to penetration by a preloaded hardened steel stylus moving across the coated surface. The steel stylus has penetrated the organic coat if a break up, a crack up, a peel up and/or a push of organic coat occurs during test. Changes of the organic coat, e.g. deformation or change of brightness (visual impression) are not covered with this Test Method.

Note:

Nothing in this specification, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained.

Note:

In the event of a conflict between the German and the English language, the German language shall take precedence.
