Scope:

This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) covers the determination of the amount of stock loss caused by use of chemical cleaning agents on aircraft turbine engine materials. The evaluation is conducted on representative engine materials by determination of weight loss during total immersion in the cleaning solution with the weight-loss measurement converted to stock loss by calculation.Test conditions are based upon manufacturer's recommended operating parameters for maximum concentration, maximum temperature, and twice the maximum immersion time.Chemical cleaning solutions and compounds used for preinspection clenaing of aircraft turbine engine parts shall be subject to requirements of this test practice. The test does not give consideration to cleaning performance of the compounds except as specified in 5.1.4.
