This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) provides design criteria and performance tests for portable, hand-held, battery-powered, electronic megaphones used by aircraft crew members to provide information and guidance in the event of an aircraft emergency or other non-routine situation.The purpose of this document is to assure minimum standards of usability and performance for hand-held electronic megaphones used aboard transport category aircraft for emergency communications.
