This Aerospace Resource Document (ARD) is intended to broadly cover concepts for all general purpose fiber optic coupled sensing schemes that are applicable to the aerospace industry: a) to define certain terms related to sensors so as to avoid confusion; b) to consider interconnection related aspects of these sensor schemes; c) to consider diagnostics and self-test as these topics relate to the maintainability of sensors; d) to provide a compendium of problem areas that might inhibit the application of this technology; e) to discuss possible resolution of problem areas; and f) to provide a brief bibliography of salient technical references.
